A detailed survey of 1052 estimates outlines general fund expenditures of £70,038 with 5d in the pound as the final rate, potential £4,262 in reductions, and £25,000 loan balancing. Electricity trading shows £83,025 in spend, private installations rise £500, and a 63,515 profit from electricity sales is projected.
A grand fancy dress ball will be held at the Minto School of Arts on Monday December 31. It promises to be a worthwhile function with festive entertainment and social gathering.
Aldermen their wives and staff gathered at Lack's Hotel to mark a successful year. Mayor Marlow welcomed guests, praised open discussion, and urged continued cooperation. Deputy Mayor Sedgwick and staff were toasted, with remarks on progress in Campbelltown and surrounding districts and memories of past service.
The Campbelltown News wishes readers and advertisers peace and happiness for the New Year. No issue will be published during the Christmas to New Year holidays. The next edition appears on January 8, 1952.
About twenty five property owners gathered at the School of Arts in Campbelltown on a Tuesday evening to object to Valuer-General Department assessments. They formed a Ratepayers Association, urged inspections of VG Office valuations, and planned a January 7 meeting with election of officers and duties for objection notices before December 22.
The monthly meeting of the Campbelltown A H and S Society was held at the School of Arts. President F J Sedgwick chaired with under a dozen members present. Delegates reported on their Dapto visit and a warm welcome from Mr Fields. A trotting or dog license was discussed. A new member, Mr G Alexander, was welcomed to bolster trotting efforts.
The Minto Progress Association held its annual meeting last Wednesday with strong attendance. Officers elected include President T Bass, Vice Presidents J Walpole and Stewart, Secretary Trennery, Treasurer J Rays, and Publicity Officer Stewart. A committee of members and Auxiliary ladies was formed. The group discussed extending the residential area and noted a notice of motion on amalgamating the School of Arts with the Progress Association for the first meeting in the New year.
At a meeting of the Executive Council of the Associated Poultry Farmers of Australia Mr B H Gosper state president was nominated to represent the APFA at the Australian Egg Board elections. The association urges support for him with polls closing December 21.
