Final Campbelltown Red Cross meeting of 1948 خلاص

The Campbelltown Red Cross held its final 1948 business meeting in the Town Hall on Monday afternoon with Mrs J L Froggatt in the chair. Reports from carnival stalls and officials praised public support. Hon. Organiser Mr Hopper projected a financial result of £200 to £225. Carnival prize winners were announced and the first 1949 street stall is planned for 9 March, with Mrs Jas Payten and Mrs Lester Veness in charge, before a recess until March 1949.

St Peter C of E to offer special music at services Sunday

Special music will be rendered at both morning and evening services at St Peter s C of E on Sunday. Junior Choir conducts the morning service with carols new and old and Christmas hymns. The evening Senior Choir adds carols to the Anthem selections. Christmas Day Holy Communion services at 6 30 8 and 11 am.

Campbelltown Council Meeting Highlights and Appraisals

Members gathered on 7 December with Mayor P. Solomon and eight Aldermen. Delegates from East Minto urged road maintenance and a Sunday train link to Cronulla via Liverpool. The council approved testimonials for retiring officials, considered road grader sale, rail service queries, and site approvals for housing projects and tennis court leases. Street lighting in Genty Street was approved.

Dairy Farmers' Co operative Milk Co acknowledges share appeal

Mr A N Binks, chairman, expresses thanks to district milk producers who responded to a fresh share capital appeal. He notes the co operative seeks to extend its plant while keeping control in the hands of milk producers and celebrates fifty years of progress supporting co operative distribution for producers and consumers.

Liberal candidate chosen for Macquarie seat this Saturday

The Liberal party will decide its candidate for the new Macquarie Electorate in Federal Parliament on Saturday. Local figure Mr. Jeff Bates, MLC, is reported as a contestant.

Campbelltown Council Criticized For Priorities In Letter

A reader from Darling Av Kentlyn laments few new council members after municipal elections. She attacks spending on a tennis court and poor road conditions, urges government housing development, and notes two or three “live wires” on the council while calling for more reform and road repairs. Xmas Tea and Social of St Peter's Tennis Club

The third annual Xmas Tea and Social of St Peter's Church of England Tennis Club was held at the Masonic Hall on Saturday evening the 11th. About 200 attended, enjoying tea at 6.15 with remarks from Rev J F Rofe and others. Mr Jim Vernon organized the event with help from catering ladies. Toasts to The King and St Peter's Tennis Club were proposed with praise for the retiring captain Mrs J Hey.

Christmas party for Mrs Dredge and guests ends with gifts

The event featured toasts to The Ladies and Our Guests with responses by Mrs Terry and Mr Westwood Sear. Father Xmas arrived to cheers from children, some younger ones were unsettled, but all received presents and the gathering ended well.

Carole Collins Dominates State Piano Honors at Campbelltown

At ten years old Carole Collins of St Patrick's Convent Campbelltown won the State Junior piano medal presented by Professor Donald R Peart of Sydney University. She also achieved Trinity College honours along with several peers in piano singing and violin sections.

Camden Stock Sales Prices Rise Amid Strong Attendance

Last Tuesday's Camden stock sale saw firmer prices across most categories with buyers active and competition keen. Porkers ranged 4/12/6 to 5/10/6, stores 2/4/6 to 2/19/6, suckers 1/4/6 or 1/19/6, and various cattle brackets from heavy calves to fat cows showed gains though some entries like store pigs fell.
