The Camp Belltown News office will close after next week's issue until the New Year. Casual advertisements will be accepted only until 11 a.m. next Thursday. Alterations for contract and standing advertisements must be submitted by Monday.
A large Congregational School Hall gathering Friday bid farewell to Rev Horsley and Mrs. Horsley. The chairman presented gifts a suitcase and kit bag to him and a Xylonite Set to her while expressing regret at their departure from Campbelltown. Guests shared refreshments and joined in singing Auld Lang Syne to close.
Mr Andrew A Lysaght MLA receives official notice from Chief Secretary C C Lazzarini that the Douglas Park Progress Association seeks Nepean Towers to be gazetted as a polling place for the State Election. A further communication will follow.
The local Presbyterian Choir led by Dr Mawson will again perform Handel's Messiah next Tuesday with Mesdames Ballard Bailey Mowle and Davidson assisting. Last week Ernie Egerton suffered a bicycle accident on Sturt Street and was taken to Camden Hospital where he is progressing favourably.
Campbell Town Aldermen review finance reports with General Sanitary Street Lighting and Trust funds, approve payments, and adjust estimates by about £750. The Parks Committee urges £150 for two lavatories and two shelter sheds on Recreation Reserve, while wiring and water cooling issues prompt fence work and tenders. Overseer discusses lending implements and storm water disputes. council approves action calls and strict lighting enforcement under Metropolitan Traffic Act.
At the Ingleburn Council meeting a letter from the P M G Department discussed extending telephone service hours. The prior £39 annual cost funded extra staff, but a new request for £52 plus £12 more caused subscriber reluctance. The matter was paused awaiting a new postmaster and a willing attendant to accept £39.
At a special Tuesday night meeting of Ingleburn Council Ald. T H Chivers was re elected Mayor for the ensuing term. The allowance was fixed at £20.
