The Campbelltown News editor asserts that commenting on King Edward VIII's wish to marry Mrs Simpson would be disloyal, arguing the British Throne outweighs newspaper profits.
At a special council meeting Alderman Westbury won the mayoral post after a secret ballot with 6 votes to 4 for Ducat. Alderman Marlow becomes Deputy Mayor as the council appoints committees and discusses a mayoral allowance set at £25.
The Campbelltown Westleyan Methodist Church on Oxley and Allman Streets traces its 1846 founding to Rev. John McKenny with a small 18 by 30 foot chapel. After closures in the 1860s and 1880s reopening by Rev. James Nolan, a vestibule and later rear addition expanded the building. The 60th anniversary events are scheduled for December 12 and 13 with services led by Rev. J H Somerville and Rev. E Coplin Thomas, inviting former members to attend.
