The Campbelltown Amateur Athletic Association hosted a ball in Town Hall for visiting cross country teams from Australia. Over two hundred guests enjoyed a decorated hall, a seven piece orchestra, and mingled with racers including Paddy Smith of Tasmania. Mayor Alderman Solomon and Deputy Mayor F. J. Sedgwick led warm welcome remarks.

At Camden District Hospital Board meeting Matron McGrath resigned for personal reasons and the motion passed with regret. The Red Cross local branch will hold its quarterly street stall September 3 to aid general funds with donations welcomed by the stall organizers. Tennis racquets see price rise from £5 8 to £5 12 6 with Jack Hepher offering over 20 racquets at the old price. Ingleburn P and C meeting chaired by Mr E Smith discussed expanding school accommodation and moving a large classroom from Picton.

Transport timetable tweaks shared for Moss Vale and Sydney routes
Mr Blake Pelly, MLA, says the Transport Minister will add a Moss Vale to Sydney train at 6.05 a.m. Sundays and a Sydney to Bunda hoon service at 5.50 p.m. Saturdays. The latter replaces the 7.22 p.m. Campbelltown to Picton. Trains run on trial at residents’ request from Wollondilly. continuation depends on patronage. A November start date is anticipated.

School Transport Subsidy Details From Education Dept
Mr Blake Pelly MLA explains subsidy rules for school transport. The Education Department will fund special school bus costs from May 16 1980, and will cover full ordinary fares for children aged six and over from the start of term. Parents may apply using department forms and refunds will be issued for fares paid since May 1.
