At the August 8 meeting the council reviewed the Campbell town Sewerage Scheme costing £42,413 153 1d with an unexpended balance of £106/8/2 from £42,520/3/3. They agreed the Water Board hold the balance for future extensions and discussed winding up the Civilian Aid Service. Numerous road, drainage, street lighting and infrastructure items were referred to the Works Committee or approved, including sewer extensions to Mr Bateson’s cottage, shale pit purchases, sanitary depot expansion, Showground entrance moves, Milgate Street lighting, and parking advisories near the Golf Club. Tenders for a tractor at £200 were approved pending price regulations.
Calves and mixed cattle drew firm to advanced prices at a large yarding with heavy interest from buyers. Pigs sold late. prime fat cattle and store cattle showed improved demand.
