Methodist Crusade At Jamestown Draws Large Crowd
Representatives of Methodist churches in Jamestown Yongala circuits held services in the Methodist Crusade. Rev B H Phillips reported full Town Hall in the afternoon and near full capacity in the evening as Rev A E Vogt preached. A 90 voice choir led by L H Chambers performed amid four pianos with solos by Miss Joan Tiddy of Adelaide.

Obituary for Albert Curyer of Jamestown
Albert Curyer of Jamestown died at Jamestown Hospital after a short illness on September 18. Born in Jamestown in 1883, he was the youngest son of Thomas Curyer, educated at Jamestown Park School, and worked with his father and brother on contracts for the Belalie District Council before serving as Toreman of Works for the Jamestown Corporation. He married Annie Simons in 1906, and his sons followed his footballing footsteps. The funeral was held Friday at St. James Church of England, with the Rev. H. Price officiating. many sympathy tributes covered the coffin. Deep sympathy to the widow and family. The family: Mrs. J. Cahill, Peterborough. Mesara, Clacre, Wyn, Reg, Ron, and Ted.

Nancy Doreen Williama and Rae Suen John Ellis wed at Jamestown Presbyterian Church on August 22. The bride wore magnolis satin with camelias and orange blossom, escorted by her uncle, with four bridesmaids in tropical straw. The reception followed in the Parish Hall with seventy guests. The couple honeymooned on the West Coast and Port Limol, and will reside in Jamestown. An afternoon card event planned for October 3 was postponed to October 17.

War Memorial notes and village meeting outcomes at Georgetown
The War Memorial Committee met at the Institute on Friday September 1 with Conneillor Gordon Smallacombe presiding. C. T. Martin summarized twelve months of work, the treasurer B. L. Mason reported receipts £69 0s 2d and expenditure £390 18s 8d, with a balance of £802 31s 7d and public subscriptions £269 19s 6d. Plans for the Memorial opening include a services, school sports, and an afternoon tea at the oval. committees for sports, catering, and a women’s group were formed and honorary service members named. Trading tables raised funds for the St Mary’s fete. other local notes cover bank opposition, travels of two women, and various social visits. The Georgetown Racing Club held its AGM with E. Lang re-elected president, J. Kelly secretary, planning six races with prize money and War Memorial Committee support.
