Jamestown Cricket Club Annual Meeting Sees Officers Re elected

The Jamestown Cricket Club held its annual meeting at the Institute Bank Room on Monday night with good attendance. Elected officers included President Mr E B Chil, Vice-President Dr E Swann, Captain Mr G McCarthy, Vice-Captain Mr F Hall, Secretary Mr E O Riley, and a committee. Delegates named to the Association, an application from High School Old Scholars for a team was accepted. Five teams will enter the Belalie Association. subscriptions set at 5 shillings with 2/6 for juniors, and a 1 shilling per match ball levy continues.

Royal Blind Concert Company Brightens Adelide Night

The Royal Institution for the Blind in North Adelaide presents the Royal Blind Concert Company for 1988 led by violinist A J Clark with new acts including Jeane Hawthorne pianist and vocalist Cecil Vincent in the Royal Puppet Pantomine Ny Russell Isinman comedian and impersonator and Mr Stat Ingham on guitar and bi phone. Ray Clarke, a versatile blind musician, joins the Royal Blind Orchestra with flautist C Roehr and double bassist T Winter. Patronage supports the Blind to help themselves.

Rodney Victims' Ashes Scattered Over Ocean

In a Sydney Harbour tragedy recount, J W Beveridge of Shell Advertising and the Royal Aero Club scattered the ashes of Alfred Augustus Steptoe and his daughter Aileen over the ocean five miles east of Sydney Heads. Steptoe, a Greenwich foreman, died in the Rodney disaster. his daughter’s body was found later. Executed at Mascot after executors requested the gesture.

Jamestown Tennis Club Holds Annual General Meeting

The Jamestown Tennis Club held its annual general meeting on Thursday evening at the Institute. New officers were elected including President H L Berridge and Secretary D W McNicol. Members approved subscriptions, discussed affiliations with SASTA, Belalie Tennis Association, and set September 24, 1938 as opening day.

Benefit Ball At Gladstone For Miss Jolly

A Garden Theatre Benefit Ball at the Gladstone Institute drew over 200 attendees from surrounding towns. Net proceeds exceed £20 to aid Miss Chrissie Jolly at Adelaide Hospital amid infantile paralysis. Ambassadors Orchestra provided music as a novelty dance won by A Ward and M Webb. Committee members organized supper and decorations while H M Pascie thanked supporters and promised funds distribution plans.
