Jamestown Institute announces new library hours on Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Adult subscriptions cost 20 annually or 5 quarterly with 4 books and 2 magazines. Junior membership 2/6 per quarter or 10 annually with 2 books and 2 magazines. Programs include monthly committee meetings and hall facilities for events.
The tenth annual Whowve meeting in Chidstane was presided over by MP J. A. Lyons. Delegates from Jamestown Gladstone Port Germein and other towns discussed protests against hospital funding and vehicle tax rules, urged northern road maintenance, and proposed relief work for the unemployed including rabbit control with compensation.
The installation of Bro. M. Thon son as Worshipful Master of Gladstone Lodge No. 11 took place at the Masonic Temple in Gladstone Friday. Officers were invested including S W Glenn H R and others. a large gathering from Northern Jocies attended the event with music by Jamestown Dance Orchestra. Decorations, supper, and civic pomp marked a high standard for these gatherings. Miss D. Pineh organized the elaborate decor.
Secretary Mark Weston reports a large bullock weighing 1375 lbs presented to Crystal Brook Hospital. The Hoovoolie estate owners received the animal. A two-gulden trophy from the Eudunda Farmers Cooperative Society went to Mr. Pammenter of Port Pirie for the correct weight estimate, raising funds as a result.
A new Mobiloil Chart, issued with garages, is now on view at Farres and service stations. It lists about 4401 lubrication recommendations for cars, cycles, buses, and tractors. The Vacuum Oil Company says engineers worldwide contributed to the guide, the first Chart tailored for Australia and New Zealand since 1906.
