Jamestown District Council Annual Report 1941
The sixth annual report notes revenue mainly steady with previous year under a fifteen pence rate. Outstanding rates rose to £575 16s 11d. overdraft reduced from £384 13s 8d to £7 19s 11d. A patrol grader was bought with a £843 loan. two RC tractors and graders kept busy. Grants totaled £7,000 plus local additions. floods damaged roads requiring months of repairs amid labour shortages. Elections yielded unopposed retiring councillors. Cronin thanks colleagues and notes wartime effort priority.
