Georgetown Golf Results and Local Notes Duration 1940
The 1940 golf season in Georgetown faced war restrictions with club and handicap championships won by J. Vaughton and E. L. Winton, while Doreen Smallacombe and Dorothy Hinton claimed various trophies. A new Georgetown Miniature Rifle Club formed under C. W. Peaks with officers named Batten, Acott, Peaks and others. Weather details note 83 points of rain helping crops, wheat sheds slowly emptied, and local business stocks being moved. Community reports include travel plans, injuries, weddings, a golden wedding, and a religious service at the Institute with civic attendance urged. The football team delivered a strong finish last Saturday.
