Jamestown Racing Club Holds Annual Meeting and Wedding
At the Jamestown Racing Club annual meeting in the Jamestown Hotel on October 16, officials reviewed the 1946 season and planned two 1947 meetings with 200 pounds stake money each. Enid Moore married Rollo Rose at Jamestown Methodist Church, with a reception at the Institute and many telegrams of congratulations received.

Gladstone CWA Holds October Meeting with Sugar Bag Contest
The Gladstone CWA held its October meeting with a sugar bag article competition judged by Miss M. B. Hughes who awarded prizes to Mrs. L. White, Mrs. M. L. Archer, Mrs. A. Thomson, and Mrs. E. J. Bley. Handicraft display by Mrs. C. Keller impressed members. The November 8 session will be International Day with a Scotland theme and a Scotch jokes contest.

Ratepayers Meet At Spalding For Assessment Appeal
One of the district’s largest ratepayer meetings met at the Hall on Friday October 25 to oppose the recent council assessment. Chairman Donnellan and secretary Cronin led discussion with residents citing discrepancies between assessed values and market reality and urging appeals. A five member committee was appointed to protect ratepayers’ interests.
