Novel River Trip Through New South Wales
Rev. L. Peacock of Underfield, NSW, and a friend completed a 2000 mile Darling River journey in a 15ft dinghy from Walgett on the Barwon to Wentworth on the Murray in 26 days. They rode floodwaters, covered up to 60 miles daily despite snags and rocks, and noted good duck hunting and favorable pastoral country. Shell Oil supplied fuel for the 2 hp engine. Peacock had previously run a similar Murray trip from near the river’s source to Mildura.
