Balance sheet for the Gladstone Ornamental Grounds Committee year ended April 14 1928 shows balances in saving and hand, income from hire of goods bank interest grazing on oval and donations to clubs. Audited and found correct April 19 1928 by W Hancock auditor with L G Harris as Honorary Secretary and Treasurer.
A floral fair and dower show was held at Gladstone on Tuesday in aid of Anglican Church funds and proved most successful. A full account will appear in the next issue.

Mr J B Brooks died at Adelaide Hospital on April 23. A long serving railway official, he began as a tramway conductor in 1881 at Gawler, rose to stationmaster roles at Tarles and Marree, and held posts in Smithfield Port Augusta Eudunda Hawker Murray Bridge Mount Gambier Gladstone and Gawler. He lost a son in war. his widow and four children survive.
At Mrs A Thomas home in Crystal Brook a farewell for Mrs Ralph featured music piano solos and singing. Winners of a six person tennis tie were Mesdames Wieass Gleeson Ward Roberts Buttfield and Mrs Buttfield. Guests included Mrs Fergusson and Mrs Ralph’s successor Mrs Ferguson.

Messrs C W Laubman and Harold G Pank of Laubman and Pank Opticians, Adelaide, return from a world tour studying artificial eye making. They secured European expertise to craft eyes for any socket and color match, plan district visits with samples for estimates, and invite wearers to view the process at their rooms.
