Georgetown District Council Meeting Highlights 1939
Georgetown District Council met at Gulnara on February 18 1939 with Crs Lyons White Smart Thomas Harvey Tilbrook Willams Frick and the District Clerk present. Proposals included repairs to Klemm road Yacka procurement of hatbands for fire controllers a fire lighter erecting a petrol pump at Yacka and placing Georgetown Narridy road on main roads. Provisions were made to remove the Weighbridge at Georgetown and finalise weighbridge accounts, investigate unregistered dogs, grant Mrs M M Thomas permission to lay a pipe across the road, relocate the Gulnare fire tank, and place Gulnare main street on the main roads schedule. The Highways Dept was to be advised of dangerous approaches and Guinare Croquet Club billed for excess water use. Names of employees were to be shown on time sheets.

Northern District Councils and Corporations Association Meeting
Today in Memorial Hall Gladstone the Northern District Councils and Corporations Association holds its annual meeting. Executive Committee at 10 a.m. delegates at 11 a.m. Voting limited to delegates, but other councillors and clerks may attend as visitors. Minister of Local Government Mr McIntosh invited to open. invitations sent to district representatives and Inspector Davis of the Highways Department.

McConville's Rodeo and Circus visit to Gladstone and
McConville's Wild Australia Show toured Gladstone on February 22 and Jamestown on February 28 drawing about 1400 at Gladstone and a smaller crowd at Jamestown. The program featured buckjumpers, American riding by Thorpe McConville junior, rope spinners, stockwhip work, rotating ladders, trapeze and tightrope acts, high dog jumps, and clowns.

Another Well Bred Jersey Bull for Jamestown
Mr Gibbons of Jamestown has bought a 12 month old Jersey bull Para Vale Lord Silver from Mr A J Marrett of Saddleworth. The bull's sire is Para Wirra Percy and the dam Millie 28m of Willow Farm, a high producing cow with 10101 lbs milk and 504 lbs fat in 273 days. The lineage includes noted sires and dam lines such as Para Wirra Maglona's Twylish Audrey's a Lord Twylish Collegian Para Wirra Sweet Iris Iris of Grantala Mercede's Noble Queen and Audrey's Lord Twylish Lord Silver mine of Banyule Sweet Antinomy Millia 16m Willow Farm Molly 5m Banyule Audrey Lolus 3rd. Gibbons is praised for building a high producing herd and will continue with stock from his previous high producing Jersey sire. Best wishes are offered for his breeding program.

Farewell to Rev Fr J Lee at Spalding Parish
A large congregation at St Joseph's Convent school room after Mass bade farewell to Rev Fr J Lee who has relieved the parish priest at Spalding. Councillor P W Donnellan chaired and presented a travelling case and rug on behalf of the Spalding Parish. E E Gill and N A Vowles voiced the townspeople's sentiments. Fr Lee thanked all, noting a happy time in Spalding and that he would never forget the people.
