Crestal Track Golf Club defeated Pirie 8 to 6 with two matches tied 4 all. Individual results include J Corry beating C Impett 3 and 1 and R Klooper defeating J Playfair 2 and 1. Stroke standings followed with scores from Reber, Duval, Warris, Marriott, and others across sections A B and ladies. Next week Jamestown visits James Town. B Grade at Caltowie.
Jamestown defeated Laura 20 goals 25 behinds to 6 goals 9 behinds after strong first ten minutes. Gladstone lost 14 2 to Georgetown 5 1, while Wirrahara beat Caltowie 15 17 to 10 12. Woods' Great Peppermint Cure ad ends the page.
A badge sale at Gladstone and surrounding schools in aid of the Adelaide Children’s Hospital netted 9 pounds 12 shillings and 9 pence, with £6 7s 4d from badges and additional small contributions. The effort, aided by Mrs Marriott and others, received grateful thanks from E A Smith and Rev H Alvey.
Albert Shephard died in June at Brighton after a life as a farm worker near Gladstone. Born at Marion June 12 1840 he moved to Gladstone in 1872 and retired to Kingswood then Brighton. He married Emma Shering of Marion in 1908 and is survived by siblings and Emma, with burial at Brighton Cemetery after a period of illness.

The Crystal Brook Young People’s Club held its first social evening at the banqueting hall to mark the coming of age of Mr and Mrs Ware’s son. Dances were led by Mrs Pearce and others, with music, games, and prizes for table tennis ballboard and quoits.
On Saturday afternoon the Janestown Machine Gun troop of the ith Light Horse Regiment competed for the Lond Foster Cup. The cup honors competition among Machine Gun troops across Australia. The course was one mile with troops galloping in, firing 200 rounds per gun, and galloping out.
Major Hridgefornd of Army Headquarters Melbourne judged a local trotting trial with Major Lo vell of the 9th Light Horse Regiment present. Despite untrained horses, the performance was creditable and Major Tudge praised the shooting. The Acting Mayor Dr Pod McCarthy welcomed Majors Trice and Lavell at Pelton's Jamestown Hotel and hoped for a pleasant stay.
