Community event fundraising and local sports update
A June afternoon event in the Institute supper room hosted by V.S.D. members and Mrs. F. C. Boyce celebrated Miss Audrey Hooper with a poetry presentation and songs. A wedding is planned for Miss Hooper with Alf Warby. A dance at the Institute raised 29 pounds after expenses, despite drought and fewer dancers. Nearby football vs Crystal Brook ended in a home defeat, with Syms injured and treated by local staff. The District Council plans tree planting in Main Street and rain finally arrived after a long drought, totaling 193 points for June. Several local residents are noted for military service or medical news, with an upcoming F.F.C.F. meeting on June 13.
