The Man Who Wins Is The Man Who Tries
A poem extols the average diligent worker who answers clearly, learns multiple skills, and steadily applies effort. It stresses that steady, honest work leads to better jobs and higher pay, while shirking is punished by those who succeed. It highlights persistence, adaptability, and competence as keys to employer favor.
Spare Moments And Success
A brief moral on using spare moments for productive work. It urges starting with disliked tasks, turning idle time into effort, and notes ideas from reading or conversation should be recorded. It adds wry lines about a woman’s view of a man with a wife and defines a male as someone who expects little from a delayed phone answer.
