Deputy Director J. B. Cumming announced that dilapidated ration books beyond use would be replaced at no charge on application. Books may be posted or returned to his office, with replacements aimed at saving time for retailers and ensuring coupon validity through year end.

Commonwealth Bank Passbooks To Be Audited Annually
Commonwealth Savings Bank requires passbooks be produced at least once yearly for audit. Interest on deposits will be added on 15 June 1948. Depositors should lodge passbooks promptly after that date. Receipts will be issued for passbooks lodged outside the Ledger Branch.

Perennial Veldt Grass Useful On Light Soils
Perennial veldt grass shows promise in light soils of the Upper South East with about 16 inches annual rainfall. It grows well in winter and spring and responds to summer rains. best on clean firm seed beds. Seed viability is low but enough stand can be achieved with proper sowing. It should be grown with a legume such as subterranean clover or burr clover in suitable conditions. Two to four pounds of clover seed per acre and ample superphosphate recommended. Seed supply is limited this season but available from reputable seed merchants via farmers harvesting in the Upper South East.
