Colonel J H Thyer Elected President of Local Organisation

Colonel J K Thyer D S C O B E of Jamestown was elected president after the death of K J Daly. A Duntroon graduate, he served 30 years in the Australian Army and was discharged last year. He and Mrs Thyer reside in Jamestown and were taken prisoner in 1942 and released in 1945.

Miss Barbara Welbourn marked her coming of age with a 21st birthday party at a Birthing Ball hosted by friends in Moorundie Narridy. Guests from Adelaide Crystal Brook Gulnare Yewka Koolunga Merriton Georgetown attended as well as local sporting club supporters. Barbara cut a two storey cake lit with 21 candles while M C Percy Cox praised her town service and a home made supper followed with dance music and Auld Lang Syne.
