World’s Financial Position Highlighted by British Debts

The Glasgow Daily Herald discusses Britain’s wartime sacrifices and German in kind deliveries. It notes costs of 10 to 11 billion pounds in six years, debt interest to the U.S. amounting to 2.222 trillion, and relief outlays of 0.6 to 0.7 billion. Coal, iron, steel, and cotton were affected, with Britain’s coal output dropping and exports at 50 million tons. The speaker supports the Young Plan over the Dawes Plan, but warns ten years of deliveries have already passed and argues another decade is too long.
