The London wool market and its enduring role
The London spot market grew from early wool exports to Flemish weavers to a central hub for global wool, with origins in 1804 and expansion of New Zealand and Australasian wool. Postwar prices peaked in 1920s famine dynamics, but today London Auctions provide a vital, timely outlet within 500 miles of London, ensuring premium prices and swift sales for growers while meeting industrial demand.
