Obituary of G. Fr. Dawes from Jamestown area
The late Charles Rufus Dawes died suddenly on February 6 at Jamestown Hospital. Born September 25, 1879, he worked on stations along the River Darling and in road contracting, later helping build railway cottages. He married Martha Williams in 1905 and was active in St. James Catholic Church, the Catholic Men's Society, and the ALP locally. Survived by a widow, three sons and eight daughters, with brothers in Jamestown and Renmark and many relatives.
