Annual Jamestown Racing Club meeting a success
In sunny weather the Jamestown Racing Club held its annual meeting at the racecourse on January 27. Gate receipts reached £41 15s with £70 in members subscriptions. The Bundaleer Hurdle saw Game King beat Joonboo by a half head. Jean's Flight, owned by Herman Schmidt and trained by A. Wallace, won the double. Attendance included notable figures from Snowtown, Laura, Peterborough, Clare and Central Australia racing circles.

In the Jamestown Handicap MARIMBA QUEEN won by a half length over Starban with Chiraston close behind. In the Bselalie Trials JEAN'S FLIGHT led from the start but was nosed by Flight Master, with Gallant Days and Kitty Adair following in a long stake. WINSOME VERA won the next one by a length over Chiraston with Murrawong close third. Official prices and tote dividends are noted for each race.

Farewell to Mr and Mrs J A Stephens at Metho dist lecture hall
A large gathering of Meth dist friends met on Wednesday evening January 27 to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs J A Stephens and Miss Stephens as they depart James town for Adelaide. Mr Stephens and Miss Stephens have long served the church and sun day school. Rev Dickson led the farewell with praise for Doret in the choir and Sunday School. Miss Stephens received a purse of notes. the couple responded. Music games and a supper followed. the evening closed with Auld Lang Syne.
