Farewell to Mr A C Carter in Gladstone farewell event

A large group of Gladstone residents gathered at Owens Hotel on Friday night to bid farewell to A C Carter who has managed Bagot Shakes and Lewis in Gladstone for four years and will become manager of Kinchega Station. The mayor presided as toast to the guest was given and funds from the gathering were placed in infant Peter Carter’s savings account. Carter spoke of his duties, thanked the town and firm, noted he had little time for public matters, and praised those who supported him. The event included speeches from local officials and a final toast and singalong, followed by a spread provided by the landlady.
