Flood Destroys Gladstone Streets With Severe Downpour
Gladstone endured a 250 point 24 hour flood on Monday night. Water overran Sargent's dam and swept past the food sheds and Gladstone hotel into the railway yard channel. Cross street ran six inches deep and water reached doorsteps of homes. Texaco Depot saturated. Pisant Creek and Rocky River overflowed near Boo gooolee as cars bogged and were towed. Residents fear more floods. Public Works committee may build a cross-section drain with minimal cost to prevent repeats.
