In Gladstone on August 1 the Debutantes Ball for the Sisters of St. Joseph drew 500 attendees from Georgetown Gladstone and Laura. The Bishop of Port Augusta presided as thirteen debutantes and partners were presented amid music by the Dixie Dance Band and a supper after the ceremony.
