Goldfields Water Scheme details from Adelaide conference
At the Australian Prous Conference in Adelaide, details emerge on the Goldfields Water Scheme supplying Kalgoorlie and farming areas from Mundaring Reservoir. Water travels 360 miles along five pumps with 1200 feet lift. Prices vary, households pay about £12 yearly for garden use, or £4 for domestic use. miners pay up to 7/3 per thousand gallons, with discounts for special tasks. The project repaid its original cost in 33 years and no major price reductions are seen due to pumping and maintenance costs. The figures are not official but considered fairly correct.
