Proprietaries won the opening football game at Gladstone by 48 points, 23 goals 10 behinds to 1 4 behinds. Goalkickers included Jobson six and Veitch three for the winners with several juniors on both sides. Best players listed for both teams, and Mr Lindsay praised the umpiring. Georgetown then edged St Mark's by one point in a closely fought match 7 15 to 8 8 with multiple scorers and best players highlighted. After the Georgetown game St Mark's praised their reception with a smoke social and dance afterward.

ANZAC Commemoration Service Held at Jamestown

The annual ANZAC service drew large crowds at the Square and Memorial Park with the Returned Soldiers Fathers' Association and 9th Light Horse unit leading a wreath laying procession. The ceremony moved to Institute Hall due to cold weather with Mayor P J McCarthy presiding as Rev Page conducted the service and the Jamestown Male Voice Choir performed Land of Hope and Glory. A collection for soldiers’ charities was taken.
