Unimproved Land Values Assessment Debate At Gladstone
Mr E J Craigie outlined unimproved land value taxation at a Gladstone meeting held April 11 in Memorial Hall. He argued rental value taxation penalises development and favors idle land, while land value charges reflect community benefits from public services. The talk noted adoption in several SA towns and New Zealand, with proposals showing rates under land value would rise slightly but improve use of land.
