Old Collegians Reunite Amid Catholic Education Ties

In Jamestown over 110 former students from Seven Hills Rostrevor Sacred Heart Christian Brothers and Marist colleges gathered for the Old Scholars Association reunion. Dignitaries including Rev Dr Prendergast Father Dalton and college principals attended a Saturday dinner with prayers reflections and a toast to Alma Mater. The Sunday service featured Fr Dalton noting Catholic education’s global reach and unity in faith despite rain forcing cancellation of afternoon sports.

Georgetown Welfare Club elects officers for year

Georgetown reports the Wo men s Welfare Club elected officers on March 19 with Mrs S H Wakefield as President and Mrs F T Acott and Mrs K Kain as Vice Presidents along with a set of officers and committee members. £50 was raised for school projects and plans include a May 7 bazaar and planting a grass lawn at the school. A library formation was deferred for building material. St George s Church of England to mark its diamond jubilee with services and reunions on George s Day April 22 and the following day. Several residents are in hospital or visiting, and a Hadyn Bunton football lecture was held at the Institute.

Honey seekers trek far in drought hit Wirrabara forest

The long dry spell ruined honey prospects as bees flowered with little nectar. Beekeepers moved apiaries to Mount Brown near Quorn and to Keith near the Victorian border with mixed results. Some moved to Wilpena Pound and Yorke Peninsula where a strong flow yielded over 15 tons of honey.
