A car carrying four men collided with a Wilmington stock train at a level crossing near Melrose on Tuesday April 2 killing Eric Hartley Davies 41 and Thomas Peter Redden 55. The other two occupants, Harmer and Leo Redden, survived with minor injuries. Redden died at Booleroo Centre District Hospital and Davies was buried at Spalding.
The Northern District Baptist Association held its yearly meeting at Jamestown on Saturday March 30 with ministers from northern churches present aside from two absentees. Adelaide visitors O H Walter and Dr A C Hill spoke, tea was served, and D H Walter gave a talk on The Ministry of This Pew. The gathering closed with song, tributes, and plans for next year in Georgetown.
