Auctioneer E White under instructions from J Pattit licensee of the Katanning Hotel will sell by auction Saturday and Monday next the full hotel furnishings. Items include two Alcock billiard tables bar fittings office and drawing room dining room and bedroom furniture kitchen utensils with sale starting at 10 30 am each day. Also notes on Katanning Milybdenville Syndicate sample from Leonora show seen in Austral Terrace window. Edwardes reports shaft 20 ft deep lode now 3 ft wide with prospects but awaiting sample crushing to estimate values.
The Weekly meeting of the Council of the Katanning and Districts Local Committee of Repatriation was led by vice-president Mr W Bray with good attendance. Apologies came from the president and secretary. Funds for local patriotic appeals discussed and a £25 soldier loan held over for details. A plan to hold the general funds appeal between September and October was set with dates to branches. A sub-committee was formed to draft the work plan for the next meeting. Next meeting set for Friday August 9.
The Returned Soldiers' Association met on July 20 in the usual fortnightly session with Dr. I M House chairing. Boundaries were fixed with Bayerine as the northern and Crag brook as the southern boundary. A car donated by Mr. Noonan will shuttle between town Show Grounds and Katanning to fundraise and supports socials across the district.

The effort to collect eligible men for the voluntary recruiting ballot is advanced with states reporting totals. Victoria lists 120000 names and Queensland over 100000 while New South Wales has 30000 and adds about 3500 daily. South Australia has 40000 with 15000 more expected. Tasmania lists 23000 and expects 3000 more. Western Australia has not returned a tally due to delays.
