Maurice McCarten discusses Grand Boy and two other juveniles under Mr A Irving Cox. While not declaring him a Phar Lap or Peter Pan, he notes Grand Boy’s lazy streak, early speed, and potential to step to the front with proper riding. McCarten highlights two year olds Gold Red Grand Boy and Bonnie Legion as top performers this season.
The daily press claimed Dr W A Dunn would relinquish training his horses but he denies the move. The physician says training remains his priority though he may lease some of his team to other trainers. He recently bought yearlings and may train them himself as his stable grows.
The Harbor City racing scene reports strong crowds for club and interstate fixtures, with June and July seeing more favorites. High’s Randwick win impressed, with coach Harry England planning future campaigns. Bronze Ruffle, Flying Brle, Trechillo, Black Dust, and Tredonner are also mentioned as part of a talented group.
Training notes highlight Joey and Boldjay among others as improving juveniles. Bom buss and Cherry Bar show potential with recent form. Damier Dark Son Dawson El Senorita and Fireman eye better outcomes. Gipsy Chief Hammerhead Jacquuse Misnomer Mr Kerry and Spark named as likely contenders at mid week and Saturday fixtures.
In Gosford on Tuesday the Money R meeting drew strong bets with Sir Mart Tower Hill Capital and co among the favourites. Sunday’s teens showed value as bets were served up at odds 2 1, 4 1, 19 4 and 5 1 respectively.
