Brazen Lad led early on the three furlongs race, inside advantage favoring Brazen Lad. Munro pushed Sign On to edge ahead, preventing a dead heat, with Koorenbeen the supportive rival as betting surged. Munro’s 33 wins this season place him fourth among jockeys, Thompson atop with 52.
McCarten leads a hat trick day with Grand Bay beating Aren't We All and Constant. Blue Fire caused a spill when saddle slipped, nearly taking Constant out of contention. O'Rourke's Constant finishes strong but cannot catch the winner as Grand Boy seizes the lead early and holds on.
Race day at Kensington saw Captain Gore surge past Sir Regal in the final stretch. Red Thespian attracted strong backing but flopped after a poor start. Cyril Killian’s Sir Regal led early, then faded to finish behind Captain Gore who claimed victory amid volatile betting and crowded stands.
In the Jumpers Flat at Kensington yesterday Water Waggon drew stewards’ scrutiny as its backers faced questioning. The inquiry noted no foul play but highlighted rider interference incidents and a two month riding suspension for careless riding by F. Daeree of Lasting.
