A bookmaker and a punter exchanged sharp exchanges in the Paddock ring at Victoria Park during betting for the second division of the Encour age Handicap. Supervising Officer Mr. Carter may consider applying his influence as the incident unfolded.
In a tight finish at Victoria Park Ramdin ridden by Squeaker Brown failed to overtake Brown Betty after a late surge from the Rampton runner. Drawn gate position hampered Ramdin, leaving him a half length behind the winner as bookmakers initially supported him before backing off.
Stage Player, a newcomer at Victoria Park, could not match Greensea's pace as he drifted behind the leading trio and finished seventh. The gelding showed potential but lacked experience, and his rider had to dismount before leading him to the peg.
Areuanatee led a strong field in the 14.2 at Victoria Park with Caroline ridden by W Glover taking the lead and Kentucky under Max Papworth close behind. Mountain Rose finished third as Blinky Bill faded after a fast early pace while Breret on held fourth ahead of Majorca. Christmas Carol and Spasm showed brief promise in the later stages.
In a chaotic Park Handicap race Mazanna edged clear from Fernstone and Miss Wendy with Mazanni holding a narrow lead at the finish. Bookmakers flirted with even money as tensions rose among punters and fielders.
At Victoria Park yesterday Color King outpaced rivals in a crowded field. Riposte and Musician battled for a place behind the winner with Musicians early move fading after the fifth furlong and Riposte failing at the last jump.

In yesterday’s Park race Brazilian struggled at the start of the Three and Four-Year-Old Handicap. Interference among rivals caused a scramble including Sir Sion Corinthic Esteemed and Hopalong. Peter Lawson sought to improve Brazilian’s barrier manners but race-day conditions still left him far back. CAPTAIN OATES started favorite but did not win.
