Smith argues criticism of British sportsmen is unfair and urges measured, cricket focused debate rather than broader jabs at national temper. He recalls Bradman and Ponsford’s August batting spree and questions the tone of Britons toward Australian visitors. He calls for restraint and says a temporary truce in polemics would help, defending true sportsmanship while condemning sensationalism.
