In a tense Rosehill Club Handicap race Stonebrook overhauled rivals as Mystic Spell faded late. Ore led early with Akuna and King March close behind, but Stonebrook surged from the ruck to win amid a cluster of favoured runners and unpredictable form.
Stonebrook won by three quarters of a length with Master Briary closing strong for second as Oro faded on the rails. Trainers and stewards examined Oro for a straight-run interference while Sarcherie and Sardherie drew interest for the Doncaster against a crowded Randwick and Rosehill card.
The Rosehill spring meeting produced a strong two year old field as Hadrign faded to second, with contenders including Grand Mogel Wykeham and Silver Standards. Fanfore Solfast Sofjat and the Victorians Bimilla and Young Klea arrive to meet rivals at Randwick for the Sires Produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes.
Bimilly, a two year old filly at Rand, is eyed for the Champagne Stakes while Rimini targets the Fairfield Handicap at Warwick Farm. Bimilly showed strong form from Caulfield to Ascot Vale and is noted for power and stamina under heavy weights.
Cercello, a Northern sprinter, defeated a strong Randwick lineup on the Westmead Handicap at Rosehill. Despite a slow start, he overhauled Vellantis, with Quentionnaire third, and improved on prior Doncaster non-entry form. Myra Tip and Leila Vale failed to repeat later speed, while Roman Spear impressed at Randwick the previous Saturday.
Artful Clare led from the front at Hawkesbury yesterday to win by a length, with Nord second and Bat third. Measure, flagged as a rising favorite at Ascot and Hawkesbury, faded mid-race after early pace and finished well back, highlighting his inconsistent form.
Bouyeo drifted unfashionable to lead late and win by a length and a half at Hawkesbury in the High weight. Treasury led early with a two length advantage before Bouyeo closed strongly, while Bim Boy outstayed Treasury by a head for second. Curtius barely missed fourth, beaten by Moonray.
