Communist Party of Australia Formation and Unity Dispute
In October 1920 the Communist Party of Australia formed by merging part of the ASP with the ALP influenced factions. The ASP later withdrew in December and resisted Comintern unity moves through 1921, while delegates contested decisions, demanding immediate unity and a joint Council of Action. The dispute centered on affiliation claims and internal disagreements over representation and procedures.
