About eighty isolated farmhouses beyond Deer Park lack sewerage while sixty seven homes built by New Australians in Deer Park and North Sunshine also have no service. The council will strive to rectify the condition. Dr J McDonald called the situation frightful and Cyr R Barcay said it is one of the shire’s most serious issues.
The Braybrook Council, now under Labor control, approved extending council employees’ annual holidays from two to three weeks. The decision, made on the President's casting vote, followed calls to help staff rest after Christmas and attract workers, with dissenting councillors seeking a sub committee report. Dr. Barclay emphasized duties to ratepayers and staff alike.
Braybrook Council heard figures showing staff levels among nearby councils. Essendon has seventeen New Australians, Footscray and Keilor none, Braybrook four. The Engineer prefers hiring Australians if available and will prepare a report on required staff at the next meeting.

Cr H Dempster moved to revert a large land parcel beside Westmoreland Rd and Phoenix St in North Sunshine from industrial to residential use. The council had no opposition as Dempster, a key figure in the 1947 factory permission controversy, secured the change after years of debate. The land had earlier been bought with factory plans that were never built, and the issue resurfaced when selling parts to other industrial interests. The council cited the original decision aimed at a special type of factory as justification for the reversal.
Braybrook Council seeks Health Department view on alternate sites after deeming the Shire Hall opposite site unsuitable for an infant welfare and pre school centre. Proposed locations include Sun Crescent land beside Seymours shop, King Edward Avenue, Devonshire Road site, and Sunshine Gardens. The council rejected plans to add an extra storey later, which would have cost £1200.
The Sunshine Cricket Association handed Braybrook Council a final £100 promissory note for the turf wicket at Selwyn Park on Monday. Braybrook Council refused to hear a deputation from Deer Park residents on the Deer Park bus service. Officials argued a deputation would amount to unqualified support for elevating the service and waste time. Residents were urged to specify requests, noting a Sunday 10 am bus is most needed, as the current service only runs at 11 am.
Dr J Parsons opposed Braybrook Council’s bid to allow selling fish from a vehicle in the streets. He urged protecting local shopkeepers and questioned the fish supply issue versus other districts. Council to seek legal advice on potential refusal while Health Inspector recommended granting with conditions and proper vehicle.
