The council approves buying a Ford V8 truck. The Town Clerk must report the number of rate payers in Sunshine side of St Albans to assess how many would be affected by Keilor Shire garbage service proposal.
Items referred to engineers include fixing corner at Ashley Street Ballarat intersection and Scavell Reserve, re-netting gutters along Wy along Street, repairing holes in Dickson Street, inspecting waterlogged tires on Ballarat Road opposite Bourke Street.
Brunswick City Council plans an electric roller for Selwyn Park with equipment due within three months. Sunshine Council's engineer prepares a report on required electrical installations.
A minutes silence at Monday's Sunshine Council meeting honored Alf Clarke of St Albans James Newman of Braybrook and Jack Mullen of Maidstone who had recently died.
Ex-Students Association reminds members of the general meeting on Tuesday in September at the Girls School. New members are urged to attend and bring a plate. Birthday night will be at the Masonic Hall on September 20 with a social and dance for the public.
The Ladies Auxiliary RS L invites members to a fortnightly social and dance this Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The evening features Monte Carlo and spot dance, plus supper. Donations at the door.
Personal Cr. A. Pennell appointed as Sunshine Council representative to the Municipal Association annual conference in October. Substitute Cr. J Parsons named. Pennell also reappointed Sunshine cans representative of the Western Metropolitan Market Trust. Cr. N. Green replaces Cr. J. Downing as municipal representative on the Child Care Committee. Sunshine Baptist youth retreat scheduled.
The second Annual Bazaar organized by the Ladies Guild is planned for September 29. Help is sought from Mrs Thurgood Mrs Turner of Walmer Ave and Mrs Price of St Albans Road. The next guild meeting is at Mrs Tare r s home on Wednesday September 12.
Well known Missioners from the Victorian Baptist Youth Department plan after school meetings in the Baptist hall at Sunshine from Tuesday 11th to Wednesday 19th September. Children will enjoy sound films quizzes competitions singing and a serial story. Adults meet evenings on July 14 and 18 at 7 45 p.m. and the visitors lead services Sunday the 16th at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Investigations show little odor from Associated Rubber Co Geelong Road but parking space near new factories remains an issue. Dr H Dempster urged Sunshine Council to require parking areas with new factories and council agreed. Council plans to take possession of Maribyrnong Reserve lighting fixtures from Kirton Speedway Co after back rent owed.
