The Labor Party increased its municipal representation with wins in the Western Riding where J W Castley unseated Dr M B Lynch by fifty votes, and at Shire Hall where Castley led by 66. Ex-Dr Lynch led in St Albans and postal votes. D P Mc Lachlan, though defeated, performed creditably in Central Riding. East Sunshine remained Labor’s stronghold, with J Downing securing the seat on his second attempt after losing in 1944 by 93 votes.

Two Men Convicted of Larceny From Disused Explosives Factory
