Sunshine Baptist to Hold Three Services Sunday

Sunshine Baptist announces three Sunday services with Mr Grewer speaking in the morning and Rev E H Carne delivering afternoon and evening sermons. The second meeting of Central Riding councillors and ratepayers is set for Monday at the Town Hall to voice grievances before Cra, Barclay and Hayden.

Shirebraybrook Education Week Opens School Open Days

Education Week invites Braybrook parishioners to attend open days at Varlows schools. The event, led by the shire president and councillors, seeks local support for education with a showcase of student work. Samples will also be shown in Melbourne Town Hall on October 30 and 31.

Braybrook Shire Council Honors Dr. Alfred Lowe

The Braybrook Shire Council observed a minute of silence for Dr. Alfred Lowe who died last week. The council praised his 18 years as a councillor including two Presidential chair terms and his strong support for community good. Sympathy extended to Mrs. Lowe and son Kenneth with a copy of the resolution to be sent.

Musical Recital For Lord Mayor's Fund At Shire Hall Sunshine

The Shire President Dr G Dobson requests readers support the Lord Mayor's Fund for metropolitan hospitals and charities with a musical recital at Shire Hall Sunshine on Sunday October 29 starting 8 15 pm. Miss K Gordon spoke to Sunshine residents on a planned community centre. The Youth Centre Committee seeks delegates from shire organisations to back the project. A Rosanna site study backs an Olympic size swimming pool as the inaugural step in a larger scheme.

Shire Rates Backed by Record Valuation at Meeting

At a Sruybrook Council session Monday night the State Collector Mr R T Barnett reported the Shire valuation for rateable purposes at 279071 pounds the highest on record. Supplementary valuations showed increases in Central Riding 365 Southern Riding 5644 River Riding 6145 and Western Riding 1866 bringing the total rise to 14000 pounds.

Baby show plans outlined for town meeting

Last Monday evening a special meeting was held to prepare for the upcoming baby show. Entries are strong and a capable staff and judges are arranged. Volunteers are urged to help at the hall on Saturday morning and from 1.30 pm. The general meeting is Monday 28th at 8 pm in the Town Hall, with a feature next in the State Theatre and a free outing planned for Monday 30th for couples.
