Engineer's Subdivision Plan Rejected by Council
Maribyrnong council refused a proposed re subdivision at Middle Road and Barb Street despite the shire engineer and Dr Pennell supporting it. The four blocks were not 20 feet front each, three smaller blocks measured 44 by 145 feet totaling 6 380 square feet, and the large block 46 feet front by 157 feet totaling about 7 250 square feet. By law the minimum area is 5 000 square feet. The engineer argued the new plan would align all blocks to one street and prevent backdoor sheds if the old layout remained.
