Final Figures for State Election Debrief and Results

At the declaration of the poll on Wednesday Dr Shepherd praised voters and opposed opponents as the electorate of Sunshine eyed the future with confidence. He thanked Returning Officer E Hargreaves and staff, while Mrs James lauded her first political experience. The election employed 145 people. Left candidate Mr Red Fraser won the seat from Mr Ed. D'Arcy by a clear margin, with retiring member Mr F C Molden polling last.

Opening of Church Hall at East Sunshine

The Shire President indicates the parish welcomes all parishioners to the new church hall at East Sunshine Devonwhine Plead. Hospital Collection Tomorrow in Sunshine District

A collection for bottles and non ferrous metals will be made in Sunshine district tomorrow to benefit Sunshine Community Hospital. Gay Scouts will call on all households by 10 a.m. and helpers will be cared for with tea and buns at Shire Hall. Girl Guides assist by collecting cash donations in lieu of bottles. Scouts and Guides assemble at Mr Boyd's depot Monash Street at 6 a.m.

Lack of Community Facilities A Social Problem

Dr Dolson urged the federal government to fund five facilities for Maidstone housing estate amid rapid population growth and lack of community amenities. Old Woman Dies in Wallace Cottage Fire

A cottage fire in Wallace Bt Mainlstone claimed the life of Mrs Laura Prise Powell. Firefighters and neighbours attempted to rescue her as flames enveloped the home. Post mortem found no external injuries. authorities deemed her unable to be cared for at home due to failing health.
