Dr N Green cited a depression in Chapman Street that fractured a car spring. A vehicle braking to avoid a child caused its head to strike the windscreen. The footpath opposite the town hall was cut for sewer pipes. the Board of Works reopened it and the city patched it. The engineer Mr H Robinson warned patching may fail as utilities keep cutting up roads. Dr McDonald urged a formal directive against footpath cutting with tunnelling under paths as the preferred method. Medical expense claims by the injured woman were referred to the council’s insurance company.

The Sunshine Child Care Committee hosted a successful event at Sunshine Park with national dancing and kindergarten stalls to boost the St Albans Kindergarten building fund. Mrs J Hook donated the hand made supper cloth won by ticket 71 held by Mrs Yates of Preston. Next meeting is Tuesday May 12 at 7 pm. Building plans have been approved by the Health Department and progress is hoped soon.
