Edward J Major dies at 62 in Sunshine

Edward James Major of 6 Ridley Street Sunshine died on June 6 aged 62. Born in Clydesdale he leaves a widow and five grown children. He was a keen gardener and Sunshine Horticultural Society member, also affiliated with the Progress Association A N A and Veritas Masonic Lodge. Funeral from Nelson Bros chapel Footscray proceeded to Footscray cemetery with many floral tributes.

Death of Mrs Ivy Gibson in Sunshine

Mrs Ivy Gibson of 42 Hampshire Road Sunshine died June 7 at Prince Henry Hospital. Born Footscray she leaves a husband and one son, daughter of Mr R and the late Mrs Klix. The Child Care Committee led by honorary secretary Miss Grace Neyland circulated a questionnaire on establishing a local nursery kindergarten. Cloakroom theft at Sunshine Court ends in fine

Leonard Burns of Warrnambool faced charges for stealing a coat hat and scarf from Our Lady s Parish Hall cloakroom on May 30. Witnesses Jeremiah McCarthy Norman Stephens and James Caulfield identified the theft. Burns pleaded guilty and was fined five pounds plus costs. witnesses noted his literacy and health issues and a lack of prior trouble.
