Stone in council chamber over Fox's Lane road repairs
Dr H Easton at Keilor Council vented over rough Fox's Lane surface in St Albans. He displayed a stone weighing about a hundredweight from the middle of the road and warned a ten ton roller would be needed to level it. A rate payer complained of a punctured tyre and blame was unresolved.

The Lions Club of Sunshine raised over £400 to cover painting costs and a washing machine prize. Mrs Poole of Deer Park, wife of Dr W Poole, won the washing machine. Second prize dressed lamb went to N Pengelly of 10 Watt Street. third prize bag of potatoes to Braybrook Works. The club thanks supporting organisations and volunteers.

Dr H Easton told a Keilor meeting that frequent electric power failures in St Albans were becoming very annoying. Failures often occurred on Sunday nights with light load. His motion to ask the S E C for an explanation was carried.

High Property Values At Sunshine Auction
A brick house at 31 Benjamin Street sold at public auction last Saturday for £2,200. It is part of Sunshine’s oldest brick terrace group. A one acre factory site at Market Road and First Avenue sold for £2,560. Auctioneers were Shallard Bros. with James A. Fox. £500 deposit required.

Two Men Hurt in Sunshine Accidents This Week
Two men sustained broken legs in separate Sunshine accidents this week. Edward Gritton of 8 Victor Street was struck by a motorcyclist while riding his bicycle on Monash Street, suffering two broken legs. The cyclist involved was Brian Belen Col Street. In a second incident a car collision on San Crescent involved Norman Carland of 17 Monash Street.

Passing of Sunshine's Grand Old Man
The late Mr. Scott, a respected Sunshine citizen, displayed strong public spirit and humor. He founded an engineering business, served six years on Braybrook Shire Council, was Shire President in 1921 22, helped lay the Sunshine Town Hall foundation, and long served St Mark's Church as warden while acting as a Sunshine Court justice before retirement.

Four Fined for Street Betting Case at Sunshine Court
Four men were fined £25 each at Sunshine Court on Tuesday after being convicted of street betting. Named defendants include William Brooks of Maidstone Alan Frederick Doody of Footscray Royal Prince of Brook and John Francis Peterson of Essendon. Brooks Doody Prince and Peterson were seen in lanes near Corio Street Derby Road behind a hoarding and a tree near hotels. Constable E Buggy stated Prince discarded a betting sheet at apprehension. Each had a sheet listing bets or similar betting material.
