Died in Africa: Charles Pearce Led Gospel Band
Charles Pearce, who died in Africa, once led a band of young men preaching at Braybrook and St Albans before churches existed. He started as a Methodist, became a Baptist in Africa, and spent 30 years there baptising about 200 Kaffira in his first two years and helping establish over 100 native churches. Rev. Lockhart Morton notes his abilities in Drifting Wreckage. He visited Australia in 1910 and preached at Footscray.
