Deer Park Post Office Robbed in Overnight Break
Robbers broke into Leskeins general store housing the Deer Park post office and savings bank. Cash and postal notes valued at £8 and £15 were stolen along with £27 in tobacco and cigarettes. The safe had been opened with the key left in place. A side window was broken and a likely duplicate key aided the theft. Detective Banner is handling the case.

The Gyuilidhana Club voted eight to none to seek Selwyn Park approval for a publican's booth at the Sunshine Gymkhana grounds during the 18th event. If granted, tenders will be called for February. The program includes rider and horse events, dances, cycling, and the Sunshine Gift prize with a sash and cash prizes. Hubert Opperman and Keith Southion inspected the park and approved the track completion plans. The next meeting is Thursday at 8 30 PM with a subcommittee to report back.
